What are the characteristics of zirconia bricks?
2024-07-09 16:54:36

Zirconia bricks are thermal insulation and refractory materials made mainly from zirconia. The main crystal phase of the brick is cubic zirconia (accounting for about 70% to 80% of the mineral phase composition), with a fire resistance greater than 2400 ℃, an apparent porosity of 55% to 60%, a volume density of 2.5 to 3.0 g/cm3, a compressive strength of not less than 4.9 MPa, and a thermal conductivity of 0.23 to 0.35w/(m · K). The production method of zirconia bricks is the same as that of alumina hollow balls, but its melting temperature is higher, reaching above 2700 ℃. CaO is widely used as a stabilizer in China.

The characteristics of zirconia bricks:

Zirconia has high temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance, wear resistance, and a large coefficient of thermal expansion. Stable zirconia has become an important material that cannot be ignored in the refractory industry and special ceramics.

1) Ceramic foam made of stabilized zirconia can be used for filtration of superalloys, and ceramic foam can be used for filtration of molten steel continuous casting, and good purification effect has been achieved.

2) Due to the high hardness of stable zirconia, it can be made into cold forming tools, forming molds, drawing molds, cutting tools, grinding media, fishing knives, scissors, golf club heads, etc.

3) Stable zirconia has high strength and good toughness, making it suitable for manufacturing engine components such as push rods, connecting rods, bearing cylinder liners, piston caps, etc.

4) Stable zirconia has semi conductive and sensitive properties, which can be used to make solid electrolyte films for high-temperature fuel cells and other applications.
