What is Honeycomb Ceramic?

Jun. 08, 2018

Honeycomb ceramic is a new ceramic product with a structural honeycomb shape developed in the past 30 years. From the earliest use in the purification of small cars to today's widely used in chemical, electric power, metallurgy, petroleum, electronic appliances, machinery and other industries, and more and more widely, the development prospects are considerable.

Honeycomb ceramics can be made from a variety of materials. The main materials are: cordierite, mullite, aluminum titanate, activated carbon, silicon carbide, activated alumina, zirconia, silicon nitride and cordierite-mullite, cordierite-aluminum titanate and other composite matrix. Honeycomb ceramic packing filler has the advantages of larger specific surface area and better strength than other shape fillers, which can make the vapor-liquid distribution more uniform, reduce bed resistance, and have better effect, and can prolong service life in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical and fine chemical industries. The filling effect is quite good. Honeycomb ceramics have advantages over catalysts.

Honeycomb ceramic as a filter material has the following advantages: good chemical stability, acid and alkali resistance and organic solvents; excellent resistance to rapid thermal quenching, working temperature up to 1000 °C; antibacterial performance is not easy to be degraded by bacteria, not easy to plug and easy Regeneration; Strong structural stability, narrow pore size distribution, high permeability; non-toxic, especially suitable for food and drug treatment.
