What is the significance of alumina in alumina ceramics?
1. A white solid which is hardly soluble in water, odorless, odorless, hard texture, easy to absorb moisture without deliquescence (burning non-hygroscopic). Soluble in inorganic acids and alkaline solutions, almost insoluble in water and non-polar organic solvents.
2. Uses: Used as analytical reagents, dehydration of organic solvents, adsorbents, organic reaction catalysts, abrasives, polishing agents, raw materials for smelting aluminum, refractory materials.
