Plate-shaped corundum is a pure sintered α-corundum material with high heat resistance, mechanical strength and abrasion resistance. It has high chemical purity, excellent insulation properties and good acid and alkali corrosion resistance. Plate-shaped corundum is the preferred aggregate for amorphous and shaped high-performance refractories and is widely used in steel, foundry, petrochemical, ceramic and incineration industries. Other applications include electrical insulators, kiln furniture and catalyst carriers. The ground plate-shaped corundum powder is an excellent product used as an epoxy resin or resin system filler, and it can be used to obtain a desired high dielectric strength, thermal conductivity and wear resistance.
